Eight people died in an attack by unruly SPLA soldiers against a military barracks near Malakal.
SPLA acting spokesman, Col. Maalak Ayuen, confirmed the attack.He added that the SPLA captured five attackers and that they were under orders of Gen. George Athor Deng, an independent candidate who lost the race for Jonglei governor.
Gen. Athor denied the charges.
He added that the soldiers took arms when they were ordered to arrest him.
The attack took place yesterday in Doleib Hill Barracks, close to Malakal.
