A UN agency alerted that a quarter of Sudanese people do not have enough food and risk hunger.

World Food Programme says it aims to bring food assistance to 11 million people in Sudan during 2010, including 4.3 million in the south.

WFP disclosed that the number of people receiving food aid in southern Sudan quadrupled this year from 1.1 million to 4.3 million.

It added that nine in 10 people in the South live on less than 1 US dollar per day.

The causes for food shortage in South Sudan are many: extreme climate conditions, poor infrastructure and the displaced people by tribal clashes.
