Business came to a standstill in Torit town on Sunday following heavy security deployment to safeguard the area against trouble ahead of the election results.
Most shop owners closed their premises and the town descended into silence.Radio Emmanuel talked to some traders who explained the scenario of the day. They complained that the incident affected their business.
Eastern Equatoria state police commissioner in charge of election security, Maj. Gen. Joseph Sebit Makalele, said the deployment was meant to provide security to the residents and their property.
Gen. Makalele added that citizens should continue with their daily duties but be cautious of actions that are likely to cause violence.
He said the security was deployed to contain any violent situations before they might get out of hand.
