Central Equatoria governor elect announced that 13 thousand state workers will loose their jobs in a bid to downsize the state working force.
Clement Wani Konga addressed this morning the press in Juba for the first time since the National Elections Commission yesterday declared him the winner of Central Equatoria governorship.Mr. Konga explained that the downsizing decision was taken to enable the state government to render better services to its population.
He added that the lay off is not targeting people who did not vote for him but those who are dormant at work.
Mr. Konga said the downsizing is the major priority of his new government to enable funds from GoSS and from revenue in order to increase of salaries.
Over five thousand workers were laid off last year during the first phase.
Central Equatoria Government has 22 thousand employees and Mr. Konga wants to reduce the working force to ten thousand contracting one thousand new graduates.
