A Police chief has appealed today to citizens and contestants to receive the final results with calm and order.

Major General Jackson Elia from the South Sudan Police Services said this morning in a press conference that police patrols were on the streets to protect citizens.

Gen. Elia added that the community is responsible for the security and people shoud remain calm during the release of results.

Gen. Elia asked candidates to raise their grievances in the courts and not on the streets.

Gen. Elia said the performance of the security agencies during the elections was commendable although he recognized some excesses and minor incidents like the use of force against some elections officials.

He added that cases were opened for investigation.
