MAPUORDIT HOSPITAL CELEBRATES WORLD MALARIA DAY

Mary Immaculate Hospital in Mapuordit, Lake States, celebrated World Malaria Day one day before the event.

Sources at the hosspital told Good News Radio that the decision to mark the occasion on Saturday was to avoid interference with Sunday church services.

The celebration kicked off with prayer at the Hospital premises, presided by the Parish Priest of Mapuordit.

The participants wore T-Shirts with the slogan “Malaria World Day 2010, Counting malaria out of Southern Sudan” and matched from the Hospital to the main market place in song, announcing to the community World Malaria Day.

Christine Oboya heads the Malaria Department at Mapuordit hospital. She urged people to use the mosquito nets they received, explaining that it would prevent mosquito bites and malaria infections.

Ms. Oboya advised members of the community to go to the hospital in good time whenever they feel unwell to avoid unnecessary deaths.
