Radio Voice of Peace celebrated yesterday its first year of broadcasting in Gidel, Nuba Mountains with some new projects under way.
Mary Carmen Galicia Alfaro, a Comboni Sister from Mexico, is the directress of Voice of Peace.She told SCR News that the station tried to answer the demand of programmes on health, education, human and religious formation and civic education listeners asked for.
Sr. Mary Carmen said the main achievement was to keep the Voice of Love on air during the whole year in spite of technical difficulties in a very remote area and without means of communication.
The directresses added the radio now is on air nine hours per day and started a new roaster of programmes in Tira, Otoro, Arabic and English.
Sr. Mary Carmen has some dreams for the Voice of Peace: to extend its coverage to Kauda, to prepare more staff and to start producing local news as soon as the station gets the satellite internet connection.
Sr. Mary Carmen praised the cooperation of many people, including Sudan Catholic Radio Network, Bakhita Radio and the donors.
She also praised the involvement of the community and the staff in the radio project.
