Mary Immaculate Hospital in Mapourdit, Yirol West County, Lakes State, has an operational centre for Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) open to the public.
Mr. Barnabas Maruf heads the team at the ART/VCT Centre at Mapuordit.
Mr. Maruf told Good News Radio that the Centre started operating on March 1, 2010, and it has already served about 200 visitors.
Mr. Maruf added that HIV and AIDS is a reality in the community and out of 10 patients tested one is found to be positive.
Mr. Maruf said the Centre that functions at Mary Immaculate Hospital, is sponsored by Global Fund through the WHO, in collaboration with GoSS Ministry of Health and in partnership with UNDP.
The centre receives food for people living with HIV and AIDS.
