Elections staff working in different centres in Renk County, Upper Nile State, refused to count votes yesterday morning as scheduled by the commission over payment. The officials were demanding payment of their work before the results would be out.
The State High Election Committee in Malakal was contacted to intervene., SCR News reporter said.The committee persuaded the staffs promising that they will get their dues on Monday from the State Headquarters of Malakal.
The row over money delayed the counting that started five hours later.
An SPLM party agent reported that some party agents starting leaving the polling stations because the have discovered they lost elections.
The agent urged party observers to remain until the counting ends.
