Citizens lost their right to vote due to the National Elections Commission (NEC) negligence during the polls, a senior SPLM official said.
Dr. Anne Itto, SPLM deputy secretary general for the southern sector, yesterday told the press and the diplomatic corps based in Juba that polling ended while thousands of voters were not able to cast their votes because NEC did not act promptly.Dr. Itto called upon the electoral body to set precautions during the remaining four days of counting and announcing results.
The SPLM leader said that more than fifty percent of the registered voters did not cast their votes due to missing names and lack of voting materials at poll stations.
