Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter says the future of Sudan will depend on how Sudanese accept the results of the elections that ended yesterday.
Mr. Carter expressed hope that the polls’ winners will share power with those who lose and bring about unity both in the south and the north Sudan.The former American president heads the Carter Centre.
He said that his foundation has observed so far 78 different elections worldwide and this was the most complex and far reaching election ever monitored.
Mr. Carter said a lot of mistakes were made during preparations.
The Carter Center’s poll observer mission is scheduled to announce its preliminary findings of Sudan’s vote at a press conference tomorrow.
