WESTERN EQUATORIA AUTHORITIES DISMISS VOTERS’ INTIMIDATION ALLEGATIONS

Authorities from Western Equatoria have expressed dismay over alleged interference into election conduct in the State.

Louis Wabeyote, Press Secretary to the Western Equatoria state government, told Sudan Tribune that its earlier report alleging voters’ intimidation and harassment reportedly in some parts of the state were mere rumours and speculation.

Mr. Wabeyote said no one has been intimidated by state agents and that voting and is still going on peacefully in the state.

His remarks follow allegations labelled against state authorities, saying army and some Police forces were allegedly interfering into the voting procedures, contrary to regulations set by the National Elections Commission.
