Security personnel that included the police and the military stormed a polling centre in Eastern Equatoria and arrested a National Elections Commission official for allegedly causing a scuffle at the polling station.

Mr. Usuru Atana, an official on duty, became a victim of misinformation and was arrested at the police polling station adjacent to Torit Civil Hospital, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Lucky Martin Jeremiah, presiding official at the polling station that closed immediately after Mr. Atana’s arrest said the NEC official acted in the right manner.

Mr. Lucky said Mr. Atana found security officers and party agents sitting at one place and he suspected they were conniving to direct voters to tick candidates of their interest.

He said one of the party agents eventual called for security reinforcement to control the commotion caused by the people at the polling station.

The whistle blower seemed to have given one-sided information to the police against the NEC official prompting his arrest.
