The departure of foreigners from Juba has affected food supply in its markets.

The price of many food products has gone up to almost three times the normal price due to limited supply.

Many foreigners left Juba mostly for Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia for fear of alleged insecurity during the elections.

A vendor in Konyokonyo market, Bonjo Abdu, told SCR News that buyers are too few in Juba and therefore trucks bringing in food are cautious to loose market.

He said there are some three lorries coming in everyday with food compared with 15 a while ago.

Mr. Abdu added that the bus fares from Juba to Kampala increased from 40 Sudanese pounds to 200.

The SPLM secretary for research and Planning Dr. Henry Wani Rondyang, affirmed yesterday that the allegations that the forthcoming elections will threaten the security in south Sudan are not true.
