Many residents of Eastern Equatoria consider the recent death of former Torit County Commissioner a loss of a revolutionary leader to the state.

Hundreds of Eastern Equatorians who turned up on Tuesday at the home of Masmino Allam Taha to pay their last respect lamented his demise, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Allam died on Monday at Juba Teaching Hospital of a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and malaria.

Presidential Campaign management team leader in Torit, Remio Oler, is a childhood friend to the deceased.

He describes Mr. Allam as a revolutionary whose ambition to participate in the liberation of the oppressed communities started after his Schools certificate course in 1971 during the Anyanya uprising.

Mr. Allam, a professional teacher, served the country several years before joining the liberation struggle for the second time with the SPLM.

Mr. Oler said President Salva Kiir Mayardit appointed Mr. Allam into the presidential campaign management team where he served only for two weeks before falling sick and eventual died.

Several mourners expressed appreciation for the humble, jolly and friendly life of Mr. Allam.
The former Torit Commissioner was laid to rest on Tuesday at his Hail Longute residence, in Torit.
