Allegations that the forthcoming elections will threaten the security in South Sudan are not true, said the SPLM Secretary for Research and Planning.
These allegations have resulted into the departure of many foreigners, leaving Juba due to rumors that all boarders would be closed for security reasons.
Addressing the press this morning, Dr. Henry Wani Rondyang, who is also the SPLM Election Supervisor in Central Equatoria, said the rumors are baseless and unfounded.
He affirmed that all measures to ensure security for the citizens have been put in place, and stated that SPLM stands for free, fair and peaceful elections.
Dr. Wani explained that the SPLM, in collaboration with the GoSS Minister of Interior, will ensure a non violent environment before and after the elections.
The elections are due to start on Sunday 11th up to Tuesday the 13th of this month.
