This has been revealed by the president of the State High Elections Committee, Lakes State, Mr. Gabriel Nehemiah Ciek.
Speaking to Good News Radio this morning in his office, Mr. Ciek said that some Candidates are engaged in dirty politics of instilling fear among voters, threatening death to civilians and dismissal of chiefs if they do not cast votes in their favor.
Mr. Ciek warned that such threats are a recipe for violence and if continued, elections could be canceled in Lakes State. He said that NEC has already identified what he described as “Hot Spots” and taken measures to ensure a speedy intervention in case of violence.
Mr. Ciek further said that NEC has advised Candidates at all levels to desist from abuse and divisive language, adding that even candidates seeking the highest offices in the land have sometimes broken the rules.
Lakes State has up to 387 polling stations and 94 polling Centers spread over the 22 constituencies.
