WFP SUPPLIES TWO MONTHS FOOD IN PREPARATION FOR ELECTIONS

The UN World Food Programme WFP in Southern Sudan has distributed food for the months of March and April in one goal to avoid disruptions during the elections.

A number of states in the South are badly affected by a draught.
Among the mostly affected areas are Eastern Equatoria, Northern Bahr-al-ghazel and Jonglei states.
Talking to SCR News Leo Van Der Velden, WFP coordinator for the South, said all the ten states will benefit from the assistance.
Mr. Velden affirmed that almost 1.9 million people have been assisted. He mentioned that food have been supplied to all states although more distributions are still underway in eastern Equatoria state.
