The United Nations Development Fund for Women, UNIFEM, is calling upon voters to support and vote for women during the elections.
Addressing the press, Dr. Nemata Majeks Walker, UNIFEM Gender and Elections advisor appealed to reflect on the role women can play in politics in south Sudan.
She noted that women are peacemakers and therefore voters should vote for them in the coming elections.
Cardinal Uwishaka, UNIFEM women’s elections advisor, said that for a democratic transformation, there is genuine need for all groups of the society to be represented.
UNIFEM will host a rally tomorrow in support of political representation for all Sudan’s diverse people. The theme will be “support her, vote for her, elect her, promoting equal representation for all.”
The rally will take place in Nyokuron cultural center and kicks off at 10:00 am.
