A member of the National elections commission has affirmed that withdrawn candidates are still legal according to the Elections Act 2008.
The election law states that any candidate may withdraw within a period not less than forty days prior to the polling day.
Talking to SCR, Jersa Kide said all candidates who with drew after the twelfth of February will be considered legal and all votes cast for him or her on polling day shall be counted valid.
Among the withdrawn candidates is Yassir Arman SPLM from the presidential election and from polls in Darfur over fraud and security fears.
