Children in Eastern Equatoria state survive at the mercy of God as their life is at risk of abuse and drugs.
State acting Director for Child Welfare, Oting Zoe, lamented the situation during an interview in Torit, Emmanuel Radio reported.Mr. Oting says children in the state are subjected to harsh situations that force them to flee their homes.
He added that children in the streets get involved in risky behaviours such as drug, alcohol and benzene abuse and immorality.
Some are sexually abused.
Mr. Oting said some children spend nights in the cold of shop verandas while others stay in child care homes that lack proper accommodation and feeding.
He hopes UNICEF and NGOs advocating for the rights of children would come to rescue the younger ones in Eastern Equatoria state.
