Local chiefs will be at polling stations to identify voters who do not have identity cards or other personal documents in order to allow them to take part in the elections and vote.
Voters need to bring to the polling station the registry slip with their name and number and an identity document to prove who they are.Jersa Kide Barsaba, an official from Southern Sudan High Elections Committee, told SCR News that two local chiefs will be at each polling centre to identify voters without documents.
Ms. Kide said the chiefs will be paid in order to be at the voting stations and enable citizens without identification papers to take part in the elections.
Ms. Kide added that the National Elections Commission is releasing funds to pay the chiefs for their work at polling centres.
