Eastern Equatoria State High Election Committee Chairman, Joseph Ojukwu, told participants at inter-political party and independent candidates dialogue conference in Torit on Friday that no bullets but only ballots are allowed during polling days, Emmanuel Radio reported.Mr. Ojukwu said that role of the army is to protect the borders from disruption.
He added that the police and other forces are mandated to provide security at polling stations and the surrounding areas.
Mr. Ojukwu said the presence of the army will intimidate citizens and distract them from exercising their rights in a free and fair manner.
Mr. Ojukwu emphasized that citizens are to ensure their names appear in the registry in order to take part in the elections.
South Sudan Law Society in conjunction with Eastern Equatoria state High Elections Committee organized the inter-political dialogue conference to promote peaceful and non violence environment during and after elections.
