Eastern Equatoria state caretaker governor has assured a secure environment during campaigns and after elections without interferences from cattle raid and internal clashes in the state.
Johnson Juma Okot told party and independent candidates in a dialogue conference in Torit on Friday that Eastern Equatoria state like other state of South Sudan suffers from violent effects of marginalization.Mr. Okot stressed that the state has taken steps to address cattle raiding and internal ethnic conflicts in order to pave the way for peaceful campaigns and elections.
Mr. Okot added that Eastern Equatoria state also maintains cordial relations with neighbouring countries of Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya to ensure external peace to south Sudan.
The caretaker governor emphasized that security for all actors in free and fair campaigns as well as elections is crucial for southern Sudan to achieve democratic transformation.
Mr. Okot said the state has embarked upon a process to address both internal and external security concerns to level the ground and make it conducive for political exercise.
