The National UMMA Party Wednesday launched its political campaign in Renk Salaam Stadium, Upper Nile State, despite the absence of its candidate to the presidency.
Dr. Abdel Rahman Khally, a top figure in the UMMA party leadership, told the supporters at Renk stadium that his party stands for the implementation of the CPA, SCR News correspondent reported.Dr. Khally added that if the UMMA party is elected to power, it will respect the right and decisions of southern Sudanese if they choose for an independent South Sudan.
He explained that special consideration on wealth sharing will be given in case Southerners choose unity.
Dr. Khally said that UMMA Party has both social and political ties with south Sudan.
He urged the crowd to vote the NCP, mentioning that it will let Sudan start with a new Sudanese political understanding.
Dr. Khally apologized to supporters for the failure of the UMMA party presidential candidate, Imam Sadik al Mahdi, to attend the rally.
