Radio Don Bosco was officially blessed today in order to grant God’s protection and favor over the media house.
Fr. Joseph Pulukal, provincial superior of the Salesians in East Africa, blessed the installations of Radio don Bosco after a football match between the youth of Tonj.Fr. Cyril Odia, director of the station, told SCR News over the telephone that Radio Don Bosco is on air since February 5, 2010 and broadcasts in English, Arabic, Bongo, Dinka and Luo-Jur.
Fr. Odia said the biggest challenge is to find people to translate Don Bosco’s programmes into all these languages.
He added that people like to listen to the radio in their mother tongues.
Radio Don Bosco broadcasts daily from 10 AM to 1:30 PM and from 5 PM to 8:30 PM.
The staff produces 16 weekly programmes on health, bible, evangelization and other topics.
Radio Don Bosco has one sound engineer in-residence, four translators, two newscasters, two health programmes presenters from Don Bosco Hospital, one technician and four newly graduated students in training.
Radio Don Bosco is part of Sudan Catholic Radio Network, together with another six stations across South Sudan.
