The State High Election Committee in Central Equatoria State has embarked on a two-day recruitment exercise for polling officials as part of the preparations for the April 11 to 13 elections.
In Yei River County, the exercise targeting to recruit over 950 polling officials kicked off yesterday at Hai Guava in Yei town Payam under the supervision of the Constituency Election Officer, Simon Khemis, Spirit FM reported.Mr. Khemis said recruits would be trained on polling procedures at the respective stations during elections.
He added that the polling officials will be deployed in all the five payams of Yei, Tore, Mugwo, Lasu and Otogo.
The five payams would need over 950 polling officials to manage the polling stations.
However, Mr. Khemis said so far he received only 180 applications for polling officials from the entire county.
