A group of off duty soldiers carrying guns harassed and hurt a civilian while walking home in Juba last evening.

The wounded man who sustains a cut in his right eye told SCR News that he was threatened at gunpoint by soldiers off duty in military uniform.

He added that out of a party of seven soldiers, three harassed him and at least one was drunk.

The victim explained that the soldiers threatened to kill him and to make him disappear for good.

He asked police to patrol the streets of Juba and remove guns from illegal owners including soldiers off duty.

He added that Juba is an international centre and visitors should not be scared by illegally armed people, including those in uniform.

The victim said some areas in Juba, including three hotels he named, are becoming very dangerous and a source of insecurity in town.
