George Paul Baya is Central Equatoria state member of the committee for the formation of Southern Sudan Trade Union. He told SCR News that members from various Trade Unions in southern Sudan states are to convene in a conference to establish the General Southern Sudan Trade Union.
He added that trade unionists from Khartoum are assisting in the preparation of the general assembly and spreading the gospel of trade unionism in the region.
Mr. Baya said the general trade union is an important institution to defend workers’ rights and to promote development.
Professor Ibrahim Gandur, Chairman of Sudan Trade Union Federation, said members from some neighboring countries are expected to attend the conference.
