GoSS president told members of the Inter-Governmental Authority and Development (IGAD) that the referendum that will decide South Sudan’s self-determination is more important than the April general elections.
Salva Kiir Mayardit made this statement yesterday to the IGAD’s seven heads of state meeting in Nairobi to review the implementation of the CPA, Daily Nation website reported.Mr. Kiir added that the south will defend its right to self-determination at any cost.
He urged the international community to ensure the Comprehensive Peace Agreement is fully implemented and in time.
Mr. Kiir added that IGAD should continue playing a leading role in the implementation of the CPA’s final lap.
He also urged the international community to intervene and ensure the elections are done well.
