VETERAN JOURNALIST URGES MEDIA TO OBSERVE CODE OF CONDUCT

The media in Southern Sudan has been urged to play a leading role in providing accurate and reliable information to voters during the elections campaign.

The call was made by the Director of South Sudan News Agency (NASS), Moyiga Nduru, while facilitating at a training of journalists recently in Juba.

Mr. Moyiga urged journalists and the media houses to uphold the code of conduct during the execution of their duties.

He called on the government to observe the rights and freedoms of the press to enable the media contribute to national development.

The training of journalists is part of a series of workshops to equip journalists with knowledge and skills for effective and efficient reporting of election activities.

Over 20 journalists from Juba, Yei and Kajokeji attended the training that was organized by Sudan Media Consortium in conjunction with Norwegian Peoples Aid-NPA.
