The United Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) says that it is engaging people with disabilities in order to participate fully in the upcoming April 11 general elections.
Addressing the press yesterday, Ray Kennedy; UNMIS chief elections officer, said he Mission has helped the South Sudan Deaf Development Concern by funding a project of voter education and international sign language training for the Deaf and their relatives and friends.Mr. Ray added that there is a guide ballot to help the blind to vote the candidates of their choice either in Braille or through the help of an assistant.
Mr. Ray stressed that the people with disabilities are part and parcel of the democratic transition of the country and should actively engage in the forthcoming elections.
