Sudan Catholic Bishops are traveling to the Vatican for a six-day reporting visit to the pope and the different departments of the Holy See.

The Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC) ad limina visit to the Vatican goes from March 8 up to 11 but the bishops get together on the 6th to prepare their common reports.

Bishop Erkolano Ladu Tombe of Yei told the faithful that the bishops from Sudan will be joined by their Ugandan counterparts who are already in the Vatican to have audiences with Pope Benedict, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Bishops from selected countries are given an opportunity, every five years to personally meet the Holy Father in the Vatican, to renew their faith, the faith of their churches and countries they represent.

They have also to report on their dioceses to the different Vatican departments called dicasteries.

Bishop Ladu urged all Christians to uphold their faith, strengthen their Christian values and abide by the constitution of the country, as the April elections approach.

He called upon the aspiring candidates to exercise democratic principles while they present their intentions and manifestoes during the campaigns, if the electorate is to make informed decisions in choosing their leaders.
