The Association for Independent Media (AIM), a Southern Sudan media and human rights protection agency, has reported and denounced a series of media attacks in the region.

Addressing the press this morning, David Dau, AIM Chef Executive, outlined some of attacks that have taken place on journalists in Southern Sudan.

Mr. Dau affirmed that the harassment of journalists and media houses might open the way to impunity if not condemned in the strongest terms.

He appealed to the government of south Sudan and government officials to understand the role of the media and respect the freedom of press in the region.

Mr. Dau called on all media practitioners to be guided by the ethics and conduct of professional journalism.

He appealed to the international community to support South Sudan media and to listen to its practitioners.
