The President of the republic has spent part of today touring Eastern Equatoria state on his first leg of the expected two-day visit to South Sudan.
Omar Hassan al-Bashir held rallies at Kapoeta and Torit launching is candidacy to the presidency of the republic and the NCP campaign in the State, Radio Emmanuel reported.Eastern Equatoria state caretaker governor, Johnson Juma Okot, announced Mr. al-Bashir’s visit to Eastern Equatoria yesterday at Our lady of Assumption Church, in Torit.
Mr. Okot called on the public to turn up in large numbers.
He added that Mr. Al- Bashir would address a rally in Kapoeta before proceeding to Torit town and then to Magwi County.
Mr. Okot told the congregation that as a signatory to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, it would not be wise to despise the rally of the NCP flag bearer over past misshapes and political antagonism.
Mr. Okot explained that the tour of Mr. al-Bashir does not involve the presence of South Sudan president Salva Kiir Mayardit who will go to Torit in a later date to introduce SPLM presidential candidate Yasser Arman.
