Fear griped residents of Loriyok village, in Ikotos county of Eastern Equatoria State following the shooting of a villager by unknown gunmen early this week over cattle.
Mr. Kawaja Ikwang was killed on Tuesday by a group of gunmen who traced the footmarks of their stolen cattle from a grazing point, Radio Emmanuel reported.Mr. Okech Joseph, the sub-chief of Ibunyak boma, said Mr. Kawaja was killed by suspected cattle raiders from a neighbouring village.
Mr. Okech added that the attackers, seven in numbers, had intended to raid cattle from Huma village but clashed with Mr. Kawaja’s group on the process.
He said the two groups exchanged bullets and one of the attackers was injured before Mr. Kawaja was killed during the crossfire.
