Cueibet County Acting Commissioner, in Lakes State, has called on the displaced by the clashes of last weekend at Cueibet to return home in order to report their losses and get assistance.
Acting Commissioner Madhang Majok added that the military personnel that occupied Cueibet after the weekend clashes had been relocated to Barghel, some ten kilometers away.Sources told Radio Good News that Commissioner Deng Kongor had left Cueibet for fear of his life.
Mr. Kongor was being accused by some civilians for siding with the SPLA in the clashes that claimed over 30 lives.
The acting commissioner however denied claims that Mr. Kongor ordered the military to shoot at civilians.
Mr. Madhang said he held talks with the youth and chiefs in order to stop attacks against SPLA soldiers.
The clashes in Cueibet have created a humanitarian crisis: 32 thousand people have been displaced, women and children bearing the brunt.
Acting Commissioner Madhang said there is an outbreak of diarrhea among the displaced, especially small children and women.
He called for internal and external assistance to the displaced.
