Eastern Equatoria state caretaker governor has declared today a public day for cleaning up Torit town.
Johnson Juma Okot made the declaration yesterday upon his arrival in Torit to take over the leadership of Eastern Equatoria state till a new governor is voted into office in the April 11 elections, Radio Emmanuel reported.Speaking to a jubilant crowd in Torit town, Mr. Okot announced that shops should be closed today for the general cleaning of the area while he would monitor the activity.
He observed that plastic bags and bottles and other rubbish littering up Torit town should be removed.
Mr. Okot asked prominent persons to take the lead in cleaning the town to make it attractive for visitors.
The arrival the caretaker governor in Torit was graced among others, by traditional leaders, business community, government officials, religious leaders, civil society and representatives of NGOs.
