Passengers destined to various places along the Rumbek-Wau route have been stranded in Rumbek for three days due to the ongoing clashes between SPLA forces and civilians in Cueibet County.

The manager of Nationdit BUS service, Mr. Daniel Madit, told Radio Good News that there is not a single vehicle plying the Rumbek-Wau route.

Mr. Madit said it is becoming too expensive to his company to feed stranded passengers.

He added he was trying to organize two buses today to move passengers to their destinations.

Mr. Madit revealed that one of their buses was shot at in Ror Cuol Akol, between Tonj and Cueibet.

He condemned the shooting, saying that public transport vehicles carry people from different clans and that shooting at a bus means attacking all kinds of people.

A mother stranded with her two children among travellers said she fears for her life now that the road is blocked and her money finished.

This is the second time this year that the SPLA forces clash with civilians in Lakes State. The first incident took place in Akot earlier this year.

Cueibet is some 50 kilometres from Rumbek on the road to Wau.
