The SPLM candidate for governor of Lakes State saturday received a heroic welcome from hundreds of supporters, including boda-boda operators, chanting SPLM slogans all over the central Rumbek.
Chol Tong Mayay, the SPLM flag bearer for Lakes state, was returning to Rumbek after attending a workshop in Juba. His arrival brought normal activities in Rumbek to a standstill, Radio Good News reported.
Addressing the public at Freedom Square, Mr. Tong urged the residents of Lakes state to vote for SPLM candidates right from Yassir Arman, the presidential candidate of the presidency of the republic, to Salva kiir, for the presidency of Southern Sudan, and to all other SPLM candidates for various positions.
Mr. Tong said he would meet citiznes where they are during his campaigns, adding that the SPLM has a special concern for the marginalized.
Mr. Tong told Radio Good News reporter that he was very grateful for the welcome accorded to him, comparing his joy with that of a young man getting married.
Mr. Tong is contesting for governorship alongside other three candidates, namely Gabriel Kuch Abyei, of ANC, Isaac Awan Maper, of NCP, and Joseph Malwal Dong, of USDF- Main Stream.
