The president of Sudan National African Union (SANU) has called upon the government to fund the political parties as most of them are lacking equipments that should be used in the elections.

Dr. Toby Madut told SCR News that for free and fair elections to take place, political parties must have transportation and mobilization facilities to enable them reach the people.

He affirmed that the government had promised to contribute with some funds to the political parties before the campaigns but it has not fulfilled its promises yet.

However, last week during a media guideline workshop, National Elections Commission member Akolda Man Tier called upon political parties in the country to fund their own candidates advising them not to expect any funding from the commission or the government.
