The National Election Commission (NEC) has urged ministers of information across the country to remain neutral during the general elections campaign that starts on Saturday.
Steward Soroba Budia, minister of information in Central Equatoria State, told the press this morning that ministers of information across the country met in Khartoum to receive instructions from the NEC on the elections.Mr. Soroba said the ministers were asked to remain neutral and give equal opportunities for the contesters to campaign in their respective states.
He added that the participants were also provided with professional media guidelines from the Elections Act.
Mr. Soroba urged journalists in southern Sudan to maintain their professional media ethics.
He added that those who break the law will be penalized.
Mr. Soroba made these statements after returning from Khartoum where he participated in a workshop for all ministers of information across Sudan.
