The SPLM has called upon independent candidates to cooperate with the selected candidates who run on the party’s ticket during the April 11 elections.
Over 340 SPLM members are running as independent candidates after the Political Bureau denied them the chance to contest on the party’s ticket.The secretary general of the party, Pagan Amum, called upon the SPLM independent candidates not to divide the party.
Mr. Amum added that the political Bureau shall continue to engage in dialogue with the independent candidates to strengthen the unity of the party.
He said the appeal is based on the SPLM tradition of freedom and volunteers who struggled and sacrificed for the liberation of the region.
Mr. Amum added that the party should not be an organization that divides itself in the struggle for power.
