The National Elections Commission (NEC) has rejected to nominate seven members of opposition parties as candidates in Eastern Equatoria state.

Three UDSF and four UDF members have been rejected according to the lists of accepted candidates for the April elections published by the NEC that Radio Emmanuel has seen.

The UDSF rejected members were Simon Fermon Onuqing, running for the National Assembly, and Jongole Angaya Ogiri and Rose Lino Anyiri, candidates for the State Assembly.

The UDF candidates who saw their application turned down were Avaline Angwa, running for the South Sudan Legislative Assembly, and Outwa Lucy, Taban Michael Alizaio and Voca Charles Amadeio, all candidates to the State assembly.

The commission explained that the seven candidates failed to qualify due to lack of documents required as prerequisite for every contestant.
