The federal government has approved the recruitment of 15,000 people from Southern Sudan in accordance with the power sharing protocol in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
The National Civil Service Commission has revealed that there are about 15,000 vacancies for southern Sudanese within ministries in the Government of National Unity that need to be filled urgently, Sudan Tribune website reported.Professor Machar Kachuol, who heads GoNU’s National Civil Service Commission, said a 20 percent quota in civil service equivalent to 13 to 15 thousand vacancies stipulated in the CPA has been allocated to Southern Sudan.
Professor Kachuol added that availability of qualified southerners was among the problems that contributed to the delay of the recruitment.
He said his commission had identified and sent 1000 applicants to some ministries, but some ministries have shown reluctance to the process.
