Sudan’s ambassador at the U.N. yesterday dismissed as most irresponsible U.S. allegations that the North is arming groups in Southern Sudan ahead of the April elections.
Earlier this week, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said Washington was concerned about the flow of arms, including heavy weapons, into southern Sudan.
She added that she believed the weapons were coming from northern Sudan and neighboring countries.
Sudanese Ambassador Abdalmahmoud Abdulhaleem denied categorically Ms. Rice’s allegations, Reuters reported.
Mr. Abdulhaleem said that the U.S. statement attributing arms flows from the North to south Sudan was most irresponsible.
He added that it was U.S. arms sales that were making the world less safe not weapons Khartoum.
