Khartoum has downplayed an announcement by the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) that it intends to issue a decision on Wednesday whether to allow its Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo to file genocide charges against President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.

Mohammed Hassan Al-Amin, the National Assembly Speaker, said the matter is unimportant and entirely rejected it because the ICC means nothing to Sudan, Sudan Vision reported.

Mr. Hassan added that Sudan is neither a member of the Court nor recognizes it.
He said the ICC is part of conspiracy against Sudan and Ocampo is a tool for that conspiracy.

The ICC judges announced on Thursday their intention to issue a resolution requesting the court to file a genocide charge against Al Bashir.
