Five candidates have filed their applications for the post of governor of Central Equatoria state, an official has said.
Ezekiel Jonathan is a Returning Officer at Central Equatoria High Election Committee. He told SCRNews that five candidates have handed their applications for the governorship of Central Equatoria state.
Mr. Jonathan said the five candidates are from Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, National Congress Party, United Democratic Front, Southern Sudan Democratic Forum and the fifth runs as independent.
He added that the nominations period is closed and his committee is not going to receive any more candidacies or papers for candidacy processes.
Mr. Jonathan said the State High Election Committee is about to publish the names of the candidate.
Contestants rejected by the High Election Committees can appeal to the courts before the last publication of candidates’ lists.
