Eastern Equatoria State Acting Police Commissioner has denied that state funds were stolen in Torit town.

Col. Ben Banal was reacting to rumours circulating in Torit town saying that the Joint Integrated Unity military intelligence captured a big sum of stolen state money, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Col. Banal said the money was mistakenly intercepted by the JIU military intelligence.
He added that it was state government fund on transit to Juba to pay for car Eastern Equatoria had bought.

He explained that the money was released by officials and that the rumours target the state minster for finance and are meant to spoil the good name of the state and they should stop.

Eastern Equatoria acting police chief said the money in question was about 800,000 Sudanese Pounds released by the ministry of finance to pay for 12 cars bought for the police and county commissioners.
