OFFICIAL CALLS ON CITIZENS TO BUILD INTERNAL PEACE

An official has called o all Sudanese to cultivate internal peace within themselves in order to achieve peace in the land.

Peter Gwang Akich is the Deputy Chairperson of Southern Sudan Peace Commission. He told participants at a workshop in Nyakuron Cultural Centre, in Juba, that peace cannot be divided and it is either shared or it ceases to exist.

Mr. Gwang said peace cannot be imposed from above but springs from individual internal feelings.

He added that many challenges in southern Sudan can be overcome through peace building initiatives.

Mr. Gwang said all citizens should have equal roles and opportunities to build peace in the society.

Mr. Gwang was speaking at the Pathways to peace with UNICEF√É’s Good will Ambassador workshop.

The workshop was organized to explore and reach a general consensus on the value of peace and the way forward for promoting and sustaining harmony in southern Sudan.
